10TH EDITION OF ASIA CONTEMPORARY ART SHOW KICKS-OFF HONG KONG ART WEEK WITH IMPRESSIVE ATTENDANCE AND ART SALES
Record 12,000 art collectors, March 17 – 20 2017 at the Conrad Hong Kong
The 10th edition of the Asia Contemporary Art Show closed another successful edition on Monday evening March 20th. As the first art fair to welcome visitors during Hong Kong Art Week, more than 12,000 collectors and art enthusiasts visited the Show over four days, an increase of 10% on attendance at the 9th edition last Fall. Art sales were also brisk and achieved a record, estimated at HK$26,000,000 based on an exit survey of exhibitors.
“We were delighted to have been the first art fair to open during Hong Kong Art Week,” said Director Mark Saunderson. “There was a real buzz during the Langton’s VIP Collectors Preview on Friday, March 17th, with visitors queuing a few hundred deep at peak hour! We welcomed more than 12,000 enthusiastic guests over the four days, and sales were estimated at HK$26,000,000. It was clear that seasoned and newer collectors were very positive and eager to add new pieces to their collections. In 2017 we anticipate a continued rebound in the art market, along with sustained growth of purchasing power across Asia.”
The 11th edition of the Asia Contemporary Art Show at the Conrad Hong Kong will be held September 21 to 24, 2017, during the fall art auction season, a busy time for art in the second half of the year. The fair will welcome more than 80 galleries from Asia and the world to Hong Kong, and will feature two exciting sectors, Intersections: Japan, the first in a new series that will focus on the conceptual crossing of artistic ideas, and Artist Dialogues, an entire floor dedicated to solo and joint artist presentations.
